LOCATION: Black Valley, Lough Gummeenduff, Co. Kerry, Ireland.
DESCRIPTION: Black Valley is perfect for remote, wild and stunning landscapes. On this day, Lough Gummeenduff was shrouded in low cloud creating a minimal scene on the far shore, the trees fading into the distant mist were reflected upon the lough with subtle dashes of subdued colour.
LOCATION: Dingle Peninsula, Co. Kerry, Ireland.
DESCRIPTION: The stone path of this iconic pier in Dunquin winds its way down the steep cliffside to the sea, which is a gateway to the beautiful and remote Blasket Islands.
LOCATION: Sandymount Strand, Dublin, Ireland.
DESCRIPTION: Pre-sunrise light across Dublin Bay. With high cloud to the east and a forecast of rain later in the day I had high hopes of capturing some colour in the sky at dawn. With the light changing rapidly, this long exposure soaked up the vibrant sky colour and the subtle movement of cloud above the silent Poolbeg chimneys.
LOCATION: Sandymount Strand, Dublin, Ireland.
DESCRIPTION: I particularly like the cloud enveloping Poolbeg chimneys in this scene, both of which have stood dormant since the power station closed in 2010. The eye is lead along the Great South Wall to the early morning arrival of a ferry into Dublin Port.
LOCATION: Dun Laoghaire, Dublin, Ireland.
DESCRIPTION: Dun Laoghaire boasts two of the finest pier walks in the world, with East Pier being the most popular. At sunset, the sailing boats moored within the tranquil harbour cast shadows and their masts chime in the gentle breeze.
LOCATION: Ha’Penny Bridge, Dublin City, Ireland.
DESCRIPTION: I was rewarded with some lovely evening light as I reached Dublin’s iconic Ha’Penny Bridge. The lights of the city were coming to life as the sun dipped below the horizon, just before dark clouds rolled in and the skies rained down.
LOCATION: Skellig Islands, Co Kerry, Ireland.
DESCRIPTION: Sceilig Bheag (Little Skellig), the smaller of the two Skelligs, is 11 km south-west of Valentia Island, a rugged outcrop of rock standing strong against the power of the Atlantic and is home to the largest colony of northern gannets in Ireland. I took this shot whilst trying to keep steady on the sea-sprayed deck of our small boat in the rolling swell, not an easy task!
LOCATION: Bunbeg, Gweedore, Co Donegal, Ireland.
DESCRIPTION: One of the most iconic shipwrecks in Ireland, Cara na Mara (Friend of the Sea). Famously known as Bád Eddie (Eddie’s boat), every tide and storm has sadly taken its toll since she was towed into Magheraclogher Beach in 1977.
