LOCATION: Fanad Head, Co Donegal, Ireland.
DESCRIPTION: Fanad Head Lighthouse stands strong against the elements on the headland between Lough Swilly and Mulroy Bay in north Co Donegal. First active on St Patrick’s Day 1817 and automated since 1983, its light helps guide shipping along this stunning stretch of the Wild Atlantic Way.
LOCATION: Upper Lake, Glendalough, Co Wicklow, Ireland.
DESCRIPTION: Not long after sunrise, the surface of Upper Lake was covered in a fine mist that was changing constantly as the morning sunshine began to flood the valley. The beach along the eastern shore where I took this photograph was deserted, the air was still and cold, with not a ripple on the water.

DESCRIPTION: The beautiful glow of first light hitting the valley side along with classic reflections upon Upper Lake. The only sounds were birdsong and the rush of distant waterfalls, pure bliss!

DESCRIPTION: A very early morning lakeside shot as the cloud broke sufficiently to the east to allow the morning sun to enter the valley and catch the trees along the northern shore. I was very relieved as a dash of sunlight helped to enhance what was already a beautiful view.
LOCATION: Wicklow Mountains, Co Wicklow, Ireland.
DESCRIPTION: Probably the most recognisable and well known mountain in north Co Wicklow, its iconic shape captured here during golden hour before sunset. A firm favourite with local walkers and hill climbers.
LOCATION: Nr. Lahinch, Co Clare, Ireland.
DESCRIPTION: This shot formed part of the Irish Light Collection 2016, entitled Atlantic Reach. Taken at the moment of sunrise along the Co Clare coast as I looked to capture the dynamic movement of the sky combined with the raw ruggedness of the coastline along the Wild Atlantic Way.
LOCATION: Killary Fjord, Co Mayo, Ireland.
DESCRIPTION: A moody sky above a beautifully calm Killary Fjord on the Galway/Mayo border. Just don’t mention the midges!

LOCATION: Sandymount Strand, Dublin, Ireland.
DESCRIPTION: One of my favourite locations and every sunrise here is greeted with different conditions and light. The ripples emerged from the sea in the foreground as the tide retreated whilst I set up my camera, and I love how they lead the eye into the scene.
LOCATION: Wicklow Town, Co Wicklow, Ireland.
DESCRIPTION: A stunning early morning scene from the Golden Arches viewpoint above Wicklow Town. Just before sunrise, the lights of the town glowing as a new day begins!

LOCATION: Loop Head Lighthouse, Co Clare, Ireland.
DESCRIPTION: The wispy high cloud above Loop Head’s landmark lighthouse on this particular sunny afternoon was amazing. Although the sea pinks were in full bloom, I love the dramatic contrast in black and white of foreground against big sky and the clean white stone of the lighthouse building.
LOCATION: Lough Tay, Co Wicklow, Ireland.
DESCRIPTION: Capturing perfect stillness in the Wicklow mountains takes a little patience, and after a very overcast sunrise I had to wait a couple of hours on the hillside for the light to emerge. A classic view of Luggala reflected in the calm waters of Lough Tay.

DESCRIPTION: The pre-dawn sky complimented a carpet of heather in the foreground that had turned a beautiful autumnal purple, with the mist beyond drifting silently along the valley and across the lough.
